SSHED the Number One Business Incubator in Australia
Posted on Thursday, September 2005
Sutherland Shire Council's Business Incubator, the SSHED (Sutherland Shire Hub for Economic Development), has been honoured as the Incubator of the Year at the Small Business Development Conference Awards overnight.
The SSHED was also presented with the Metropolitan Incubator of the Year Award at the ceremony, which recognises that business incubators are an effective and valuable economic development tool.
The Awards are hosted by Business Innovation and Incubation Australia (BIIA) and provide a forum for the business incubation industry to celebrate excellence in client assistance, innovative ideas and overall business development.
Since opening almost two years ago, twenty entrepreneurs have set up businesses in the SSHED, three businesses have graduated from the program and more than 75 new jobs have been created.
The SSHED is a business initiative of Sutherland Shire Council aimed at stimulating economic development and job creation in the region, and fast tracking business growth and success.
The SSHED beat out entries from across Australia to win the overall award and was judged against international best practices for business incubation.
