SSHED becomes award winning millionaire factory!
Posted on Wednesday, October 2005
The SSHED Business Incubator beat more than 70 other business incubators around Australia to two major titles.
It has won the title of Incubator of the Year at the national Small Business Development Conference Awards - and has the figures to more than justify its win.
The SSHED also won the Metropolitan Incubator of the Year Award. These Awards were presented by Business Innovation and Incubation Australia (BIIA).
As well as generating 76 jobs, the SSHED has helped to create and build a number of multi-million dollar businesses. At least five companies have shot past the $1 million turnover mark already.
Mobile messaging-provider Mobile Messenger, GetData data recovery software company, SuperModels 3D software, Switch IT website developers and satellite telecommunications company Pacific Teleports, have all passed the $1 million turnover in less than two years based at the SSHED.
Other businesses nurtured in the SSHED including Nine2Three, CareerCentral, BANGitUP and Compuserv, are not far behind. And companies such as Pure Hacking and Lagen Spatial are also performing well above expectations.
'The success of the businesses in the SSHED has been staggering. And the win has been an outstanding vote of confidence for what we're doing with small businesses and how the SSHED works,' SSHED Manager, Craig Doyle said today.
'Three of the companies have grown so fast they've needed to move out to bigger premises, with more on the brink of taking that step. Mobile Messenger's turn-over has taken off to more than $20 million. GetData has become the world's leading data recovery company with 50,000 clients worldwide and SuperModels is one of the world's top five companies in 3D imaging.'
