The SSHED effectively pools the demand from a group of businesses to deliver a cost effective package for local businesses.

Businesses selected to join the SSHED are charged a 4 weekly rental fee. Rents starts from $269 per week for a fully furnished, 2-3 person office.

The SSHED weekly charge covers the cost of office accommodation; computer and IT support, and is very competitive with the cost of commercial office rents in southern Sydney.

Craig Doyle, SSHED Manager

Craig has a background in information, computing and technology and has held senior management positions with such companies as Apple Computer and Telstra. Craig has also run his own IT consulting business and headed up dotcom start-ups in Australia and the USA. Craig was appointed SSHED Manager in December 2003.

Craig's role is to work with each tenant in setting their overall strategic direction, identifying KPI's and action plans, as well as day-to-day operational issues.

Elizabeth (Liz) Lette, SSHED Marketing

Liz has more than twenty years marketing experience. She has held senior national marketing roles with Vodafone and Apple Computer. She has a broad range of marketing skills including brand development, direct marketing, print production, promotions and online marketing.

Liz has also run her own marketing business consulting, catering for small-medium sized businesses.

At the SSHED, Liz assists tenants with their marketing program. Liz has loads of energy and enthusiasm and is keen to get involved in your business.

Marie Tass, Office Manager

Marie shares the role of SSHED Office Manager with Leah Dabron and works on Mondays and Tuesdays. Her responsibilities include the day to day running of the centre, business development and tenant support.

Marie has held a variety of roles including personal assistant and receptionist with high level skills in customer service and office administration. She loves a challenge and revels in the fast pace and variety of working at the SSHED.

Leah Dabron, Office Manager

Leah job shares the Office Manager role with Marie and works Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Leah has over 10 years experience in customer service working in retail. More recently she completed studies in Business Administration and Business Marketing.

Leah enjoys helping the businesses in the SSHED with a variety of requests as well as ensuring the smooth day to day running of the facilities.

You'll find Marie and Leah in the SSHED Admin Office.

Mary Spedding, Receptionist / Admin Assistant

Mary is your first contact when you enter the SSHED building as the Administrative Assistant to the SSHED and UOW Southern Sydney as she is situated at Reception. Mary has over 20 years experience in all aspects of administration and customer service working with various companies from Insurance, Human Resources and Retail.

Mary enjoys the variety of work throughout the day from respective team members, tenants and the students.

Book a Hot Office

If you need an office in a hurry to impress a client, have a private meeting or to simply have some peace and quiet to meet that deadline, then the SSHED's hot office could be perfect for you.

The hot office comes complete with:
computer and phone
document printing and copying in colour
café facilities (tea, coffee, newspapers, business magazines all supplied)
high-speed internet access
meeting table and chairs
scanning and faxing

Using a hot-office is ideal for businesses that spend most of their time out of the office, yet need a business base one or two hours a day or week. Hot office is available for $20 per hour (inc. GST).

By Rail

From Sutherland station - a 10 minute walk south along Rawson Ave.

The SSHED (which stands for Sutherland Shire Hub for Economic Development) is a not-for-profit business accelerator established by Sutherland Shire Council. The SSHED is part of a $5M training, education and business development precinct opened in November 2003.

In a strong, three-way partnership, Sutherland Shire Council, TAFE NSW and the University of Wollongong (UOW) worked together to provide the first university presence in southern Sydney and a world-class business accelerator for small and medium-sized enterprises in new premises located on the Loftus TAFE campus.

The building is occupied jointly by the UOW Southern Sydney and the SSHED.

The SSHED is a business initiative of Sutherland Shire Council with funding assistance from the Commonwealth Government's Small Business Incubation Program, NSW state government, The University of Wollongong and the Southern Sydney Institute of TAFE.

The SSHED is part of council's strategy to stimulate economic growth and create jobs, by attracting new enterprises to the Shire and helping existing businesses succeed.
